ASK REPEAL OF ILLINOIS UTILITIES LAW Officials representing a number of Illinois cities recently met in Peoria to discuss measures for effecting repeal or amendment of the act creating the state public utilities commission. The movement was started by the cities of Aledo and Springfield and others have swung into line. Robert L. Watson, city attorney of Aledo, in extending an invitation to officials of other cities, said: “We believe on investigation that the public utilities commission is not serving the municipalities, but in many instances is serving the utilities, and the sentiment is quite general that the act should be either amended or repealed,” Mr. Watson said in extending the invitation to Mayor Jones of Bloomington. “It is hoped that at this meeting in Peoria we may crystallize the sentiment along this line and take some steps which will result in having a bill introduced in the legislature and…
