Two Platoons for Tampa, Fla. Since March 15 the fire department of Tampa, Fla., has been operating under a two-platoon system with 28 ment constantly on duty and 28 more available in case of a second alarm fire. Chief W. M. Mathews was influential in causing the adoption of the new method, which was sanctioned heartily by the council when the plan was presented for approval by the chief at the request of his men. The departmental equipment housed in six stations, at present includes four combination hosechemical carts, two hose wagons, two steam engines, two ladder trucks, two motor pumpers, one chemical wagon and one aerial truck, all motorized and equipped with the most modern devices.
