A Well Protected Establishment (From Our Regular Correspondent) Installation recently made of 25 A. D. T. fire alarm boxes at the Willamette Iron and Steel Works, of Portland, Ore., followed by a reorganization of an adequate fire patrol, ends the present plans of the company for one of the most complete, standard fire protection systems so far installed in the Pacific Northwest. General equipment now consists of full installation of sprinkler system in all buildings, hose reels, water buckets and barrels properly distributed in the yards, outfitting docks and shops, supplemented by a fire organization. The Willamette Iron and Steel Works is one of the largest manufacturers of Scotch marine boilers in the United States. The town of Chicopee, Mass., is considering the advisability of reorganizing its fire department by reducing the number of call men and increasing the permanent force.
