FILTRATION Experiments at the Milwaukee filtration plant have proved highly successful, according to Henry P. Bohman, superintendent of the water department, and the local press comments: “The laboratory staff has succeeded in removing all foreign matter from the lake water and producing a liquid resembling spring water in every respect.” The Massachusetts Legislature recently appropriated $10,000 for use by the State Department of Health in causing a survey to be made as to the best method of purifying the Blackstone River from the Worcester city line to the state line in Blackstone, for the purpose of removing what is at present a condition of menace to the public health.
