WATER RATES Negotiations authorized by the Chamber of Commerce of Elizabeth, N. J., to be undertaken in its name, have been instituted by the special committee of the chamber, with the view of obtaining from the company a reduction in rates and an improvement in pressure conditions in the serving of water in that city. It was said by E. W. Phares, chairman of the committee, that there have been no developments so far to indicate what the outcome of the negotiations may be. The committee is under instructions to report back to the chamber before April 8. The same committee which presented the report on conditions that are claimed to obtain with regard to rates, pressure and wholesomeness of the water, is conducting the negotiations with the company for the suggested improvements.
