Cleveland Fire Notes (From Our Regular Correspondent.) Effective June 1, the various eight-hour shifts of the fire department have been changed. After much deliberation it has been decided to avoid as much as possible the disruption of the department, and in consequence, to change every two months. The following captains have been successfully in the examination for battalion chief, and will shortly receive their appointments and be assigned to their battalions: James Nimmo, Engine Co. 1; Harry King, Engine Co. 30; J. S. Richards, High Pressure Pumping Station; W. D. Jeffries, Engine Co., 33; J. J. Ruddy, Engine Co. 12; and M. J. Graham, Engine Co. 10. Two fires, each with a damage of about $20,000, visited Cleveland recently. One starting in the basement of a onestory brick building spread to the four-story structure, 408 Franklin Avenue, also of brick, owned by the Perkins estate. The fire was confined to…
