WATER RATES The city of Peoria, Ill., is fighting the petition of the Water Work Company for increased rates. Corporation Counsel Radley conducts the case for the city and declares that the city will demand a complete airing of the financial affairs of the water works company. “Some of the bonds issued by the water works company are coming due,” Mr. Radley said. “Some of them are watered and we mean to squeeze the water out of them.” A singular situation has developed in the city of Mansfield, Ohio, regarding payment for water by the city school board. The city solicitor has been directed by the state accounting bureau to proceed against the school board and C. H.
