Cleveland Fire News (From our Regular Correspondent) Captain Edward Gilman, of Engine Company 29. died after a long and severe illness. He had been connected with the department for thirty years. On July 18 bids will be opened for the motor apparatus to be purchased to the extent of $200,000. It is hoped that as soon as the contracts are awarded that a speedy delivery will be made, as the city is sadly in need of modern apparatus. Fire, on July 9, gutted the plant of the Galvanized Products Co., 8416 Lake avenue, and did damage estimated at between $60,000 and $75,000 by company officials. Hook and Ladder Truck No. 9, rushing to the fire, upset at Wakefield avenue and West 58th street. Fireman Edward Landers suffered injuries to his legs and was taken home.
