FILTRATION A chlorine sterlizing plant is to be installed for the water system of Mt. Carmel, Ill., and Manager Bernard, of the Utilities Company, states that it will be ready for service early in August. Ironton, Ky., hopes to have a pure water supply before many months, as work on the new plant is being vigorously prosecuted and installation of the pumping machinery has begun. The engineers engaged state that it will be nearly four weeks before the machinery will be ready for operation and they expect that the additional time required for tests, readjustments, etc., will prolong the time to two or three months. The town of Ranger, Texas, is deprived for at least a year of the use of Hagaman Lake for its drinking water supply, because of the very serious pollution by drainage from work camps on the watershed, where thousands of horses and workmen are employed.…
