WATER RATES A complaint has been filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Maine by a number of residents of Harrington against the Quantabacook Water Company, declaring the new rates of the company to be excessive and unreasonable. The town of Bloomfield, N. J., recently instructed the collector of the water department to serve shut-off notices on all customers who were in arrears for water rates up to July 1. The council’s action referred to the flat rate consumers, as the water department officials attend to the meter payers who are in arrears. The board of burgesses of the town of Danielson, Conn., has asked the Crystal Water Company, which furnishes the town’s water supply, to lower its charges per hydrant, and likewise to guarantee a fixed pressure per hydrant.
