News From State of Georgia (From our Regular Correspondent.) A relic of the old volunteer fire department of Augusta, in the nature of a gavel, used by the late John A. North, president of Vigilant Fire Company No. 3, was presented to Chief Reynolds, of Augusta, by Hon. Phil S. North, son of the late John A. North. The gavel is highly praised by Chief Reynolds, who will place it in the Firemen’s Museum at headquarters. Lieutenant Ben C. Pieuffier, firemaster at Camp Meade, Md., expects to be mustered out of service by August 25, and will return to the Augusta fire department and resume his duties as captain of Engine Company No. 3. The Webb Motor Chemical No. 1, of the Augusta fire department, which was badly wrecked in answering an alarm in January, has been completely rebuilt, with new double tanks, and is again in service at headquarters.…
