RECENT IMPORTANT FIRES As Specially Reported to this Journal from all Sections of the Country—Fire at Huntington Gains Headway, with Department at Two Others—Village Wiped Out—Ottawa Department at Village Fire Three Fires at Same Time in Huntington Chief E. W. Knight, of the Huntington, W. Va., fire department, recently had an interesting day when three fires were in progress at the same time in the early morning. There were only two men at the fire station when the alarm came in at 6:30 a.m. from the Morrison department store, a, four-story brick building occupying a space 40 x 180 feet in the heart of the business district, and the apparatus was practically all at the other fires. When the department arrived the structure was burning from floor to roof in the elevator shaft, where the fire started, it was thought, from lightning.
