A Modern Water Works System for Athens, Greece

Issue 10 and Volume 66.

A Modern Water Works System for Athens, Greece William E. Swift, formerly division engineer of the Hudson River Division of the Catskill aqueduct for New York City, is at the head of a party of engineers who left New York not long ago to establish a water works system in Athens, Greece. The firm of Ford, Bacon & Davis sent the party, having been retained by a number of banking houses, anxious to introduce modern improvements into the ancient capital of civilization. The idea has been under consideration for a number of years, it is said, but the war came, and it, like many other plans for progress, had to be laid aside; but the time has at last arrived when the New York firm can begin the realization of the project. The engineers will draw the plans and supervise the work of construction.
