Chief Connery Has an Anniversary Surprise Party Chief F. J. Connery, of the fire department of New Castle, Pa., recently celebrated his sixty-fifth birthday and was the recipient of a surprise party that was thoroughly satisfactory to himself and all others present. Having gone out with his son in the early evening, they returned about eight o’clock and found the meeting room of the Central Station filled with business men and members of the Vigilant Hook and Ladder Company, of which the chief was one of the first members. A table handsomely decorated with flowers and “eats”, held in the centre a huge birthday cake with sixty-five candles lighted. No other light in the room when he entered.
