Recent Important Fires Specially Reported Dangerous Fire in Brooklyn Lumber Yard in High Wind—Old Music Hall, Newark, Ohio, Used as Furniture Shop, Burned— Saved Buildings Perilously Near Factory, Americus, Ga. Brooklyn Lumber Fire Threatens Homes The illustration on the cover of this week’s issue of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING shows the men of the Brooklyn borough fire department at work on a fire which gave them a bad tussle for a time. It is believed that a spark from an engine of the Long Island Railroad caused this lire, which destroyed a large quantity of stock in the lumber yards of Charles H. Finch & Co., Coney Island Avenue, borough of Brooklyn, N. Y. The fire seemed to have worked its way from the grass on the north bank to the center of the yard. It was discovered at 5:50 A.
