News from State of Georgia (From Our Regular Correspondent) Chief Naylor of the Americus Department, has issued a warning to householders against placing ashes in wooden containers, announcing that all violations of the ordinance will be prosecuted. The Civil Service Commission of Macon has taken action in regard to placing the fire department on a twoplatoon basis. Chief Jones and a big delegation of firemen were in attendance at the final hearing. Twenty more men will be needed when the new system goes into operation. The chief recommends that a new fire station be built and equipped with modern motor apparatus, for the protection of the “Napier Heights” section, which is rapidly being built up with fine residences. The historical Richmond County Court House, Augusta, was recently destroyed by fire which started in the office of Judge Black, on the third floor, and quickly climbed to the cupola where the…
