The Hose Layout Problem In the January 14 issue of this journal the following question was printed along with a request for readers to submit solutions, therefor: “To the Editor: Do you remember the old problem shown in the sketch below? There are three houses burning. There is a three-way hydrant located in front of each building. Lay one line from each hydrant into each building without crossing any of the lines.
