National Firemen’s Association Proceedings The official Review of the 1919 Convention of the National Firemen’s Association has been published and is a valuable document for reference, containing the important papers read at the convention, all of them by men of the highest competence in their respective fields. Of conspicuous value to fire departments were the papers and discussions on the various types of gas and smoke masks or helmets now in use or in process of introduction. One paper was by II. N. Elmer, whose subject was “Smoke Helmets,” and another by A. C. Fleldner, treated of the “Industrial Use and Limitations of Respirators, Gas Masks and Oxygen Breathing Apparatus.” Much matter of interest is contained in the very full report of the points brought out in the discussion that followed the papers.
