The Efficient Fire Department of Atlantic City Rapidly Being Brought Up into First Class—Progressiveness of New Chief—School of Instruction Opened—Completely Motorized—High Pressure System Along Boardwalk and in High Value District DURING the past nine months remarkable strides have been made in whipping the Atlantic City, N. J., fire department into one of metropolitan caliber. There have been purchased two aerial trucks, one 75 feet in length and the other, 85 feet, both motor driven. The purchase of these two pieces of apparatus along with a tractor for one of the present horse – drawn trucks, makes the department 100 per cent motorized. A new fire house is being built on Pennsylvania Avenue, between Atlantic and Pacific Avenues, which will be completed early this year, and will have in it a truck company and an engine company.
