WASHINGTON, D. C. Under date of May 7 Fire Marshal District of Columbia, Geo. S. Watson, reports to Chief Engineer of D. C. Fire Dept. in part, as follows: Transactions for April During the month 181 alarms of fire were received, a decrease of 84 as compared with the number received for the preceding month. Of the 181 alarms of fire received, 74 were box alarms and 108 were local alarms or telephone calls. Of the box alarms received 12 were false and of the local alarms received 11 were false. One incendiary fire was investigated but sufficient evidence could not be obtained to warrant action by this Department. Inspections During the month 4,933 inspections were made. These inspections do not include inspections of theatres at night and the investigation of all alarms of fire.
