National Board on Yonkers Department The Yonkers, N. Y., fire department, of which James J. Mulcahey is chief, was visited May 11 at the request of the mayor, by Charles A. Whitney, engineer of the committee on Fire Prevention and Engineering Standards. National Board of Fire Underwriters, The object of the visit was to confer on improvements proposed for the fire department and alarm system and the report made was as follows: “Since the report of February, 1920, the fire department has been increased by the addition of ten men; Ladder Company 4 has been placed in service with eight men, and one man added each to Hose Companies 8 and 10. Two additional captains and two lieutenants have been appointed, making a total of fourteen captains and thirteen lieutenants.
