Chief of St. Stephen Describes Factory hire The recent fire in which the Mann Axe & Tool Factory, St. Stephen, N. B. was completely destroved, is so well described by Chief George P. Ryder that his report is worth quotation in full. It reads as follows: “The factory was a collection of buildings on the banks of Denv’s Stream, in the extreme eastern end of town. It was started vears ago oil a small scale and added to from time to time. Years ago, water was the motive power and coal the heating, but in late years electricity and oil bad been substituted. One of the oil pipes hurst over an open fire and before the oil could be shut off. the building was in flames, the workmen in most eases being unable to get their outer clothing and some being obliged to jump out of the windows.
