WATER WORKS NEWS The water plant of Dover, N. J., is now being operated by electricity, supplied by the New Jersey Power and Light Company. Samples of water secured 60 feet below the surface, in an effort to find a new water supply for Portsmouth, N. H., have been sent to the state chemist at Concord for analysis and the report on test is that the water is excellent, soft in quality and of a high degree of purity. There are indications of a plentiful supply. The corporation counsel of Hartford, Conn., has been asked for an opinion on the status of the water board in relation to the city. Mayor Brainard believes that the board is a department of and subordinate to the city but the members of the board disagree with that belief, wherefore the legal opinion of the counsel is sought.
