Boy Scouts as Firemen October 9th, 1920, was Fire Prevention Day and there never was a time when Fire Prevention was more necessary than just now. Over 15,000 of our citizens were burned to death last year and over 17,000 seriously injured. Over 90 per cent of these casualties was the result of carelessness. Every progressive fire chief in the United States if he has not already done so will within the next few years add the Boy Scouts as members of his department. The day of telling them to “get out of the way and run along, sonny,” has past, but now they are called on to aid both as policemen and as firemen.
