The velocity attained by a falling body is proportional to the time of falling. 2. The space described is proportional to the square of the time. 3. The acceleration is twice the space through which a body falls in the first second. The first law tells us that the velocity of a falling body at any instant is directly proportional to the time the body has been falling up to that instant. The second law points out that the distance which a falling body has covered at any instant is proportional to the square of the time it has been falling.
