PERSONALS Clarence B. Hoover has been appointed engineer in charge of the bureau of water works extension of Columbus, Ohio. The new engineer and superintendent of the Auburn, N. Y., water board is Major George A. Lewis of Auburn, who succeeds L. B. Cleveland, resigned. Chief Henry M. Phillips of Hammonton, N. J., has been appointed chairman of a special school committee of the New Jersey Fire Chiefs’ Association to urge protection against fire in schools. Charles E. Henderson has been appointed division engineer at Detroit for the Morris Knowles Co., Inc. Mr. Henderson, Housing Corp., at Washington and at one time city engineer during the war, was principal assistant engineer with the U. S. of St. Augustine, Fla. Chief Hiram R.
