N. F. P. A. and Safety Engineers Meet One of the most important fire prevention meetings of the year took place on the evening of December 17 at 7:45 P. M. The occasion was a joint meeting of the New York Chapter of the National Fire Protection Association and the American Society of Safety Engineers, and the place of meeting was the assembly hall of the Engineers’ Society Building, 29 West 39th Street. H. Weaver Mowery, president of the American Society of Safety Engineers, presided and introduced J. E. Curtis, president of the local chapter of the N. F. P. A., who made a few remarks welcoming the members and guests present. The first speaker of the evening was H. Walter Forster, vice-president of Independence Bureau, Philadelphia, Pa., who spoke on the subject, “America’s Challenge: Loss of Life from Fire and Safety Activities of the Past.” Mr. Forster said that…
