PERSONALS The new chief of the fire department of Plainfield, N. J., is George Firing. Captain Fred Graham, of the Wakefield, Mass., fire department, has been appointed acting chief to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Chief William E. Cade. N. D. Doane, formerly experimental engineer with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., of Akron, Ohio, is now engaged in sanitary work for Charles H. Hurd, consulting engineer, Indianapolis, Ind. Commissioner of Public Works Wallace Greenalch has asked for a three months’ leave of absence for a journey to South American cities in order to make a survey of their water works systems. Chief John Gray of the Tenafly, N. J., fire department recently resigned, his successor by election, William H. Mowerson, who will assume office on January 1, becoming acting chief until that time.
