Recent Progress in the Fight Against Typhoid Fever Water Purification in Relation to Health—The Rural Problem—Discussion by Members of Chemical and Bacteriological Section, American Water Works Association MR. WOLMAN: I should like to congratulate Mr. Orchard on account of the work he has done in furthering water purification throughout the country, and although I agree that the water works men should assume a certain part of the work in the reduction of typhoid, I do not feel, as he does, that the water works men should assume all the responsibility of reduction in rural typhoid, because there are a number of factors in rural typhoid in which water supply does not enter at all. I think it might be of interest to medical men when the question of rural typhoid comes up and their methods are questioned. They may have some kind of an answer in the state of Vermont.…
