Recent Important Fires Specially Reported Spontaneous Combustion Fire Damages Office Building in Lansing—Detroit Has Shingle Fire—Fish Cannery Burned in Long Beach, Cal.—Fires of Week Fire in Office Building in Lansing When the fire department of Lansing, Mich., under the command of Chief Hugo R. Delfs, arrived in response to an A. D. T. alarm at 4:15 A. M. recently, it found the basement of the Prudden office building, in the center of the city, all in flames and the fire spreading to the other portions of the brick and frame structure, It was thought that the blaze originated from spontaneous combustion and when Chief Delfs arrived and saw the seriousness of the situation he sent in a second alarm, bringing 60 men, one Robinson 1000gallon pumper, two Seagrave 1000-gallon pumpers, one Seagrave 725-gallon booster pump, One Seagrave city service truck, and one Seagrave 85-foot aerial and water tower combination.
