The Plant Fire Committee The rather unique system described in this week’s issue of FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING in connection with our series of articles on Private Industrial Fire Protection Systems and Fire Departments is based upon the formation of a “fire committee,” so-called, formed of the employees of the Service Motor Truck Company of Wabash, Ind. This plan has the advantage of stimulating both the interest and ambition of the men of the establishment and places upon the individuals appointed to the committee the responsibility for the safety of the big establishment from a fire standpoint. On the members, under the direction of their chief, devolves the keeping in order the fire-fighting apparatus and the appliances of the works. Extinguishers must be kept in place and filled; fire hose must be in position and after use properly dried and cared for; apparatus must be in order and easily accessible…
