TAKES UP FIRE HAZARD IN SCHOOLS AND ELSEWHERE The Chamber of Commerce of Rochester, N. Y., for some months has been conducting a very effective safety campaign under the direction of A. W. Koehler, secretary of its safety council. Notwithstanding an increase in the number of automobiles, the number of street accidents has been materially reduced and excellent results have also been secured in reducing shop accidents. Now the organization has broadened its programme by undertaking to reduce accidents and loss of life due to fire. A meeting was recently held in Rochester, attended by about 900 men, including leaders in business and shop superintendents and foremen. T. Al fred Fleming, supervisor of conservation of the National Board, addressed the meeting and afterward held a long conference with members of committees and took up safeguarding the schools against fire dangers and other features of the work.
