Firemen Injured in Farrel, Pa. The Farrel Dry Goods Company building in the center of the business section of Farrell, Pa., recently caught fire in the basement from unknown origin and before the fire could be brought under control it had reached the roof of the two-story structure. This building occupied a space of 100 x 110 feet, of brick and frame construction and had been built six years. The alarm came in at 8:45 over the telephone and the fire evidently had been burning for sometime as when the department, consisting of fifty-two men under the command of Chief Joseph R. Scowder, arrived, the basement was a mass of flames. During the progress of the fire three firemen were cut by falling glass and several were overcome by smoke. The apparatus in service consisted of one American-LaFrance pumper and one American-LaFrance ladder truck. Eight 6-inch double hydrants were available…
