Chemical and Hose Cars for District of Columbia The fire department of the District of Columbia recently acquired three new pieces, which are illustrated herewith. They were installed in the houses of Engine Companies 4, 13 and 18. These apparatus consist of three Brockway chemical and hose cars, equipped with one 50-gallon chemical tank, 200 feet of 3/4-inch four-ply heavy brass hose with Larkin shut-off nozzle and 1/4-inch nozzle tips. There are two Babcock hand extinguishers and one 20-foot solid side-extension ladder and one 12-foot ladder with folding hooks. The capacity of the hose body is 1.200 feet of 2 1/2-inch standard fire hose. The apparatus are equipped with the usual tools and appliances.
