Suggest Fire Prevention Instruction in Schools Resolutions favoring instruction on Fire Prevention in the public schools were recently passed by the Fire Prevention Committee of the Chicago safety council and department of the Chicago chamber of commerce. A committee was appointed to attend a conference on the subject to be held with a committee of school superintendents. To overcome the usuail objection of the school authorities to the addition of another subject to an already overcrowded curriculum, the plan is to make these subjects a part of the regular courses in reading, arithmetic, etc. It is pointed out that, for example, the per capita fire losses of his home city, of the United States and foreign countries could be used in the arithmetical study as well as any other problem, and by so doing the lessons of Fire Prevention would be enforced upon the scholar.
