OBITUARY Battalion Chief Edward L. Cook of the 40th battalion of the New York fire department in South Brooklyn died on April 25 of cancer of the kidneys, at his home in New York City at the age of forty-two years. The funeral of former District Chief Michael J. Mulligan, of the Boston Fire Department, was attended by a large number of fire officials, relatives, and friends of the deceased in St. Hugh’s Church, Roxbury. The pall bearers were John J. Barry, E. J. Doherty, David Crowley, M. P. Crotty, Dennis Welch, and George Meehan. There was a detail of Boston firemen in uniform under command of District Chiefs Francis Jordan and Cornelius J. O’Brien. Bells were tolled on the fire houses of engine 42 and ladder 23 and the men were drawn up in front of the stations as the funeral cortege passed on the way to Mt. Benedict…
