Knoxville Firemen Defeat Police The baseball team of the Knoxville. Tenn., fire department, defeated the team from the police department of the city recently. The score was 13 to 1. At the very first of the affair the firemen ran seven players across the plate, one in the second, four in the third, and one in the eighth completed their counters. With difficulty the policemen managed to advance one man across home for their lone tally. For the firemen, Popejoy was the outstanding star, garnering four hits out of five trips to the plate; Phillips and Stuart each got three; Scruggs two, and England. Whiteheat, Griffin and Coleman, corralled one each. It was a different tale with the policemen. But a few hits were gotten; these were scattered.
