Fire News from Georgia A. S. Christiansen, a member of Aerial Truck Company No. 1 of the Savannah fire department, Savannah, Ga., was killed during a fire drill recently when the base of the aerial ladder broke. L. J. Sitler, another member, who was about halfway up the ladder, was also thrown to the ground. Chief John H. Monroe gives the following statement of the accident. The fire drills of the fire department are held two or three times a week. When the big American-LaFrance motor-driven aerial truck arrived at East Broad and McDonough Streets, the main ladder was run up the side of a large building and the extension ladder unwound to gain a higher foothold on the building. The extension ladder stuck and Fireman Christiansen climbed up the ladder to determine the cause of the jam. Fireman Sitler followed up the ladder, and when he reached the point…
