New York Men Aid Chicago Mutual Fire Fund Members of the New York fire department baseball team and some of the officials of the New York department are still singing the praises of the Chicago department, for the hospitable manner in which the New Yorkers were treated on their recent visit of one week to the mid-western city, where they played three games of baseball for the benefit of the Chicago Firemen’s Mutual Aid and Benefit Fund. The series netted the Chicagoans $112,000, much more than was anticipated. The success of the baseball games financially was due mainly to the splendid organization of committees by John F. Cullerton, manager of properties of the C. F. D., who staged the entire program of one week of baseball, entertainment, dining, rides through Chicago’s beautiful boulevard system and inspection of the department and the stock yards as well.
