MOVE TO PURCHASE NEW FIRE ENGINE Houma, La.—At the last meeting of the Houma Fire Co. No. 1, a special committee was appointed to raise funds for the purchase of another American-LaFrance Fire Engine, such as the one now owned by the city. The idea in having two engines is to provide additional protection to the city and to have an additional engine on hand in the event a fire breaks out at some place out of the city limits. This has happened on several occasions in recent years and there always arose the question of leaving the town without an engine in the event fire broke out in the town limits while the engine was out of town.
