A Veteran Fire Chief Chief William A. Braithwaite, of the fire department of Harrisonburg, Va., has been in active service for fifty-one years and chief of the fire department for thirty-six years. Chief Braithwaite is one of the oldest of the chiefs in the United States in active service. He is one of the best known men in the fire service in the state of Virginia, and was one of the organizers of the Virginia State Firemen’s Association. As usual he attended the convention at Lexington, Va., on August 23, 24 and 25. Upon his arrival home he wrote to the Richmond delegation as follows: “Hope you all arrived home O. K.
