Chief Sullivan Celebrates Anniversary Chief Daniel J. Sullivan, of the fire department of Utica. N. Y., on December 4. celebrated the forty-fifth anniversary of his enrollment in the service. He also celebrated his seventieth birthday on December 10. Chief Sullivan has been in charge of the fire department of Utica for twenty years. He has really been fireman for forty-eight years as lie dropped out of the service from 1874 to 1876. He joined again in the latter year, when the reorganization was effected. He spent a year in the volunteer department in 1872 and in 1873 he was elected assistant foreman of the volunteers, being stationed at No. 5 house in Washington Street, where No. 3 Company is now located.
