FIRE DEPARTMENT DOINGS NOTE—Special Fire Business News, with proposals, etc., will be found on page 64.—EDITOR. The fire department of Zion City, Ill., has purchased one Ford-Pirsch hose and pumper. Captain S. W. Hodgdon, of Hose Co. 10, Worcester, Mass., has retired on pension. Marshfield, Wis., has purchased for its fire department one Oshkosh-Pirsch double tank chemical and hose car. Captain Nathaniel Pierce, of Combination Co. 1, Marblehead, Mass., died recently from heart disease. He had served nearly 50 years in the fire department. Following a community meeting in Fayette City, Pa., committees were appointed to purchase fire apparatus for use in Perry, Washington and Jefferson townships and Fayette City to devise ways and means to work out the solution of the fire hazard problem and finance the purchase.
