WATER WORKS NEWS NOTE—Special Water Works Business News, with proposals, etc., will be found on page 348.—EDITOR. The water mains of Tulare, S. D., will be extended for several blocks in order to afford better fire protection for the residential districts. At a public meeting in Bridger, Mont., a motion was adopted to instruct the town council to call an election to vote for the purpose of installing the new municipal water works. The city commissioners of Kirkville, Mo., have contracted with the Chicago Brick & Iron Works of Chicago for the erection of a 100,000-gallon standpipe for the city of Kirkville at a cost of $8,772.50. A citizen of Scottsville, N. Y., Admiral Franklin Hanford, has promised to duplicate any amount raised by taxation during the next ten years for the survey, installation and maintenance of a new water system for the town.
