Engine Company No. 3, of the Dubuque, Iowa, fire department received its new American-LaFrance pumper in the latter part of January. The Citizens Eire Company, No. 1, of Tamaqua, Fla., of which G. S. Meredith is secretary, is contemplating the purchase of a fully equipped triple combination pumper. According to the annual report of Chief Ellsworth Kocher of the fire department of Phillipsburg, N. J., the total loss from fires was $5,650. The report shows that the town has 28 signal boxes and 105 plugs. The apparatus consists of two pumpers, two combination chemical and hose cars and one ladder truck. Back firing of a gasoline engine which furnishes the motive power for the electric light and water plant in Osceola, Mo., caused a fire that destroyed the plant and a bottling works adjoining.…
