An ordinance has been introduced into the Indianapolis, Ind., city council appropriating $45,185 for the purchase of new fire apparatus. City Manager Sadler, of Sandusky, Ohio, has been given authority by the city commission to purchase an AhrensFox 750-gallon triple combination pumper. Fire Commissioner John T. Cullerton, of Chicago, Ill., ordered the retirement of 275 members of the Chicago fire department on January 2. The various causes for the retirement of these members was disability, length of service, age and inefficiency. Deputy Chief John O’Hara, of the New York City fire department, was injured when the roof and front wall of the two-story frame building of the Auto Baby Carriage Company in Brooklyn, N.
