EX-CHIEF BRINGHURST, OF SEATTLE PASSES AWAY AFTER LONG ILLNESS Former Head of Department and Fire Marshal Dies – Served as Secretary of Pacific Coast Fire Chiefs for Twenty-five Years Ex-Chief and Fire Marshal Harry W. Bringhurst, of Seattle, Wash., passed away on Wednesday, April 4, at his home in that city after a year’s illness. Chief Bringhurst will be remembered by the readers of FIRK AND WATER ENGINEERING as a frequent contributor to its columns and his writings were always of an instructive, newsy and interesting character. Chief Bringhurst was born at Logansport, Ind., on June 13, 1861. He became a member of the fire department of that city and served until he went to Seattle in 1899 and volunteered his services during the great fire in this city in that year.
