Fire Resistance of Building Materials There is hardly a class of citizen that has not directly felt the beneficent influence of the United States Bureau of Standards. Its experiments in all branches of industry have been of incalculable help in increasing efficiency and testing hitherto insoluble problems. The work of the bureau along fire prevention and fire fighting lines is no exception to this rule. The article in this week’s issue on page 1011, illustrates and describes sources of the work accomplished in tests as to the fire resistant qualities of various building materials. These should be of help to all chiefs and others interested in fire fighting. It is hoped to publish later further information as regards these tests by the bureau and other results.
