Chief Clancy Resigns from Safety Commission Chief Thomas A. Clancy, of the fire department of Milwaukee, Wis., has resigned front the Milwaukee Safety Commission, and Assistant Chief L. A. Van Toor has been appointed in his place. The safety commission, which is composed principally of men representing the various lines of industry, acts as an advisory body and has no authority to enforce any rules and regulations. It deals with industrial and traffic accidents principally. In referring to his resignation, Chief Clancy writes FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING: “The fire, police, health and building departments have been represented on this commission for some time, but in no other case except myself has the head of the department been appointed to these positions.
