Waterbury Has New Drill Tower The city of Waterbury, Conn., recently opened its new fire department drill school, located in the rear of the handsome newly equipped quarters of Engine Company No. 2 on East Main Street. The school is in charge of Drill Master Captain Martin Campion, a graduate of the New York Fire College and a man thoroughly competent to handle the work. The class each day represents a man from each of the thirteen fire companies in Waterbury who attend the school from 9 o’clock in the morning until 4 o’clock in the afternoon. One hour only is allowed for meals. During the day the men are instructed in the use of the scaling ladders, making hydra n t connections, making up lines of hose, removing a broken line, raising extension ladders, carrying a line of hose to the top floor of the tower, etc. The new…
